The Pan American Kurash Championship for seniors, cadets, and juniors successfully concluded in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The competition, which is part of the International Kurash Association calendar, was organized in cooperation with the Pan American Kurash Union and the Dominican Kurash Federation.
In the championship, which featured more than ten countries from the continent, the host Dominican Republic national team achieved a confident victory in the overall team standings by winning 16 gold, 10 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
Costa Rica took second place with 2 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze medals, while Colombia placed third with 1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Representatives from Haiti, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela also secured spots among the medalists.
At the opening ceremony of the championship, delegations from the participating countries entered the arena in a ceremonial parade. The President of the Pan American Kurash Union, Jaime Casanova, officially declared the competition open.
The bouts, held on two mats, were organized under the technical supervision of international experts Kim Eur Joong and Ajmal Isaq Zai.
This championship, held as part of the Pan American Kurash Week, once again demonstrated the growing popularity of Kurash on the American continent and the steady development of international cooperation as well as the face it served as a demonstration during the Central American and Caribbean Games.
