According to the calendar of the International Kurash Association (IKA), the XV World Kurash Championship was to be held in Bojnurd, Islamic Republic of Iran, from January 31 to February 5 this year. Earlier, it was reported that preparations for this prestigious competition were in full swing.
However, since December 28, protests have been taking place in the Islamic Republic of Iran due to economic problems. In view of the current situation, the International Kurash Association is constantly monitoring the situation and is in close and regular contact with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Iran Kurash Association.
In this regard, it was decided to hold an emergency meeting of the Directing Committee of the International Kurash Association, headed by the IKA President, today at 16:00 Tashkent time, dedicated to the issue of holding the XV World Kurash Championship. Members of the Directing Committee, as well as representatives of relevant partner organizations, are expected to attend the meeting. Please note that the safety of our members are priority concern of IKA.
The decisions taken at the meeting will be announced immediately after the meeting to all members.
