
The 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, the largest sports forum of Islamic countries, will be held in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, from November 6 to 21.
This prestigious competition is being held in Saudi Arabia again after 20 years. The games were first held in 2005 in the cities of Jeddah, Medina, Mecca and Taif.
This year, Kurash is included in the program of the Islamic Solidarity Games as a demonstration sport for the first time in history. The competitions will be held in the weight categories of men: -66 kg, -81 kg and women: -57 kg, -70 kg.
The Kurash competitions will be held on November 6 at the Boulevard Arena 01B sports complex in Riyadh.
To date, more than 3,500 participants from 57 countries have arrived in Saudi Arabia, and athletes will compete for medals in 23 sports.
The official opening ceremony of the Games will be held on November 7, and the closing ceremony on November 21.
In his address, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports of Saudi Arabia and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, expressed the following thoughts:
“This event is not just a competition. It is an opportunity to strengthen brotherly relations and glorify the values of peace and solidarity. I would like to express my gratitude to all teams, organisers and those who contributed to the success of the competition. I wish all athletes good luck and unforgettable impressions to the fans.”
The inclusion of Kurash in the program of the Islamic Solidarity Games is one of the important steps towards the further expansion of our beloved sport on the international stage.
