On September 20-25, the national Kurash championship among seniors, juniors and cadets will be held in the Turkish city of Hatay.
The Turkish Kurash Federation has already launched preparations for the largest and most prestigious Kurash competition of the year.
The Turkish Ministry of Sports and the National Olympic Committee are also actively cooperating to organize a high-level Championship, which is expected to be attended by more than 500 athletes.
Yesterday, a National referee seminar was organized in order to improve the training of referees and the selection of qualified referees in kurash.
During the seminar, which was attended by 126 referees, the rules of kurash, evaluation and warning systems, as well as the time regulations were explained in detail. Through the video practical lessons were conducted .
Seminar was broadcast via Zoom platform for kurash referees from other part of the country.
Bunyamin Er — Vice-President of the Kurash Federation of Turkey, 3-star IKA referee :
Last month, on July 5-6, we organized the first national Kurash seminar and exam for referees in Ankara. According to our plan, this is the second and most important event.
Our talented referees, who received high marks on the exam at the end of the seminar, will be invited to the Turkish Championship, which will be held next month in Hatay.
In Turkey, kurash is gaining popularity day by day. Every Sunday, holding Kurash tournaments in many cities of the country is becoming a tradition. Local authorities, sponsors and local residents assist in organizing of events. That’s right, that kurash is held on holidays and kurash athletes are competing on grass, not on gilam. This is undoubtedly beginning. Our plans are to organize such events with yaktaks and gilams. If we continue at this level for 2-3 years, I believe that kurash will become the most popular sport in Turkey.
